Rinser Hygiene

The main task of hygiene in the rinser, is the disinfection of bottles or cans as well as the sterilization of the rinsing water. Our customers have been using ProMinent's technology in chlorine dioxide and ozone for these tasks for years.

Disinfecting with Chlorine Dioxide

Chlorine dioxide is without doubt, among the best solutions for Disinfection. Second to  ozone, chlorine dioxide is the most effective and quickest way of killing bacteria. It can be easily and quickly rinsed through and is permitted for the treatment of drinking water. This means it can be used without any danger of interactions in the rinsing water.

For the after-rinse cycle in water bottling, potable water is used with less than 0.2 ppm chlorine dioxide concentration. The rinse water is captured in a nearby tank where additional chlorine dioxide is added to a concentration of approximately 1.5 - 2 ppm. This water can then be used for bottle disinfection. Because the water is used several times over, significant savings can be realized.

This process is achieved using ProMinent technology for the production and distribution of chlorine dioxide. The freshly produced chlorine dioxide is stored as a solution of around 1,000 ppm and then dosed using ProMinent Beta, Gamma or Sigma metering pumps. Pump control for drinking water treatment is proportional to volume flow rate. Chlorine dioxide can also be used in swimming pool application when used in conjunction with ProMinent's D1C controller for chlorine dioxide.

Disinfecting with ozone

Ozone is one of the most important disinfectants. It has an exceptionally broad spectrum of treatment areas, such as bacteria, viruses, spores and parasites. Disinfecting bottles with water containing ozone in the rinser is a very effective pre-treatment process. Ozone kills more germs than any other disinfectant in a shorter time.

The OZVa ozone generator can be used in all standard types of rinser. Subsequent addition of parts to existing rinsers is possible at any time. The generator has a particularly compact design and is easy to install. Typical application concentrations are 0.5 – 1 ppm ozone. The volume of injection water to be treated is on average 35 - 106 ft3/h (1 - 3 m3/h). The purification rinsing water concentration levels can be increased and then used for pre-injecting.
